Divine winter family sunset session

For someone who deals with people and humanity as a day to day part of my job, you’d think I’d be awesome at facial recognition and remembering names…

I’ll let you in on a secret. I’m crap at it. Always have been, and I guess I probably always will be.

I can watch a movie, be totally enthralled for the hour and a half, walk out and I cannot tell you the name of either the actors or the characters.

I worked in civil construction for 3 years, I’d be driving through site looking for someone I needed to talk to, and for the life of me wouldn’t be able to recognise the face of the person I was looking for, unless I knew them really well.

I will talk past people in the street and have them smile and wave, and I’ll be totally floored wondering who the hell that was and how do I know them?

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when I came to photographing these guys it took me until half way through the session to realise that Doug and I went to school together here in Albury. In the same year. For 6 years. And I didn’t recognise him.

In my defence it has been 20 years since we finished school…

This was such a fun family session. Winter can be such a beautiful time of year for photos. We had a glorious sunset, it wasn’t too cold and the best part is the sessions are done and dusted by 5pm as the sun has gone. Still time to get the kids home, have dinner and into bed on time! Though this time we kept shooting until there was pretty much no light left in the sky.

Also, you may know Danika and Doug as the masterminds behind D&D Letterpress (website, Facebook and Insta). They make the most gorgeous letterpress products locally here in Albury. Go check out their work if you’re needing any business cards, invites, menus etc printed.

I’m working with them on my new business cards and I can’t wait!
